The wake up call this morning was at 5am, with Keith starting cycling at 6.15am, being chased down the road by some crazy unleashed dogs!As we were just getting ready to set off with the RV, to our surprise Keith appeared at the door!!Further up the road it appears that the road had been mis-signed and therefore he was unsure about which way to go.Once we had got the correct information from the local shop, Keith finally set off for the day, again, at just before 7am.
Further up the road, there were cattle grazing on the hard shoulder of the extremely busy road, and Keith, being the thoughtful guy that he is decided to let the local sheriff know of this, although apparently the sheriffs wife wasn’t so keen on being woken at 7:30am!!
At 9.30am we hit Colorado, with a steady incline and a bad road surface on the SR41, towards Four Corners, which is the only place in America where four states meet (Utah, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico). We all had our photos taken with various limbs in each state, which cost us $3 each for the privilege and chatted to a touring cyclist from Chicago.
At lunchtime we hit our fifth state, New Mexico, which we will stay in for the next few days.We headed for Shiprock, our final stop of the day, another Navajo Indian Reservation to add to our list, meaning again no refreshing beer with our dinner!!
Spent the night at the RV park in Shiprock, which we shared with the local horses and a lot of mossies!!
